IIT Gujarat ( IIT-G ) to become operational this year

Finally Gujart Government got the Approval from Central government to start the IIT campus in the state.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), are a group of seven autonomous engineering and technology-oriented institutes of higher education established and declared as Institutes of National Importance by the Government of India.

IIT Gujarat will provide a five-year B Tech degree programme with 40 seats each in three branches of engineering - Mechanical, Chemical and Electrical.

In the Initial phase IITG will operate in the Vishwakarma Government Engineering College campus at Chandkheda in Gandhinagar district .

The Government of Gujarat has already alloted special land plot on Ahmedabad Gandhnagar highway where the construction of the IITG building is underway. The Campus will be shifted to the new building from the current campus at chandkheda.
