SAP India Subcontinent managing director Ranjan Das passed away today due to heart attack. Ranjan Das was 42.

Ranjan Das has played a big role in growth of SAP in India.

Prior to joining SAP, he was the founder and CEO of Patkai Networks Inc., a Silicon Valley-based venture capital-funded software startup company.

Ranjan Das obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd has announced that a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Company will be held on October 29, 2009, inter alia, to consider and take on record Unaudited Financial Results of the Company for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 (Q2).

The stock was trading at Rs.69.45, up by Rs.3.25 or 4.91%. The stock hit an intraday high of Rs.71.25 and low of Rs.66.

At least 10 people were reportedly killed and over a dozen injured when two passenger trains collided early Wednesday morning in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura city, officials said.
The accident occurred at about 5:00 a.m. when the Goa Express rammed into the stationary Mewar Express from behind at an outer signal, about 55 km from here. Both the trains were headed for Delhi.

About 50 people are believed to be still trapped in a mangled carriage of the Mewar Express, an official told IANS.

Railway traffic on the busy Delhi-South and Delhi-West has been affected as a result of the accident. Several trains have been diverted and the Intercity Express from Agra to Hazrat Nizamuddin has been cancelled. Further, Taj Expres and the Shatabdi from Delhi are likely to be delayed, the official added.

Senior railway officials, including divisional railway manager (north central zone) R.M. Tripathi, have reached the site to monitor rescue and relief operations.

Australian subsidiary of Gujarat NRE Coke, Gujarat NRE Minerals (GNM) is aiming to acquire Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) listed Rey Resources Limited.

Gujarat NRE Minerals (GNM ) today made the offer to buy all the shares of Rey Resources Limited from its share holders.

At Present , GNM has 17% holding in Rey Resources LTD. Rey Resources directors and management has 20% equity in the company while Australian microcap investment managing firm Acorn Capital holds 8% equity in Rey Resources ltd.

To facilitate the acquisition process , Gujarat NRE vice chairman and managing director Arun Jagatramka has resigned from the board of Rey Resources Ltd. He was a non-executive director on the board of Rey Resources since June 2006.

Gujarati shooter Lajja Gauswami, who has won several national and international shooting championships, was conferred Raksha Mantri medal on Wednesday at a function in Anand.

Former National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadet, 20-year-old Lajja was presented the national award by deputy director general of NCC Gujarat Directorate Brigadier Gajendra Nigam in the presence of NCC group officers, civilians and cadets for being the first cadet to make it to an international shooting competition.
