CISF deployed to protect Gujarat riot witnesses
Two companies of the Central Industrial Security Force ( CISF ) have been deployed in Gujarat for the security of witnesses in the nine cases relating to the 2002 riots, being probed afresh by the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team.
The Supreme Court directed last year that central forces provide security to the witnesses in the riot cases.
“Now, when the trial has begun, two companies of the Central Industrial Security Force have been deployed for the protection of the witnesses of the nine cases,” SIT officials said on Tuesday. — PTI
