Once considered one of the world’s most polluted places, industrial town Vapi has shown significant improvement in pollution management. As a result, Blacksmith Institute which works in highly polluted locations in the developing world with the intent of mitigating human health risks from pollution has removed the name of Vapi from its list of worst polluted places in the world.

Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has won excellence in solid waste management award which was declared at a two-day national symposium organised jointly by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Andhra Pradesh Technology Development and Promotion Centre (APTDC) in hyderabad.
